Proceeds from the sale of Delaware's general obligation bonds are used primarily for the construction of schools and other state facilities. The bonds are secured by a pledge of the State's full faith, credit and taxing power.
The Department of Finance has responsibility for issuing the State's general obligation bonds as authorized by the General Assembly. The State Treasurer administers and accounts for the payment of principal and interest on the bonds.
